Jen
I have a Bachelor’s degree in General Studies from Southern New Hampshire University that I put to use to become a manager of medical clinics, both human and veterinary. I have been on the veterinary side of the field for 4 years. I have a husband (Ryan) and three children (Noah, Nicholas & Norah). We have three dogs, (Ruggles, Bailey & Burnie), two turtles (Maverick & Goose) and a cockatoo (Randi).
HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER
Misty
Hi, I’m Misty! I’ve been part of the Southpaw team for just over 10 months as the Human Resources Manager, and I also help out at the front desk when needed. Before coming to Southpaw, I spent 17 years at the Henry Doorly Zoo as the Hospital Coordinator. I handled admin and medical records in the zoo’s hospital and supported the veterinary staff with a variety of tasks. It was an incredible experience and deepened my love for working around animals.
I’m happily divorced and a proud mom to two sons, Jordan and Chance. At home, I also have two dogs (Pixie and Precious) and two cats (Diva and Biggie). Being surrounded by animals, both at work and at home, has always been a big part of my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
ICU Supervisor
Ellie
Ellie has worked in veterinary medicine since 2017 and brings a strong background in small animal care and critical care to her role as ICU Supervisor at Southpaw Veterinary Clinic. After spending over a year at Southpaw, she expanded her experience at Kansas State University’s Small Animal ICU before returning in May to help lead and support the
ICU team.
In her role, Ellie trains and mentors new staff members, develops and refines ICU protocols, and ensures that each patient receives attentive, compassionate care. She’s passionate about creating a supportive and collaborative environment where both patients and team members can thrive.
Outside of work, Ellie shares her life with her 2 year old Netherland Dwarf rabbit, Frankincense
(Frankie) — the pickiest rabbit she’s ever met. She’s engaged to her fiancé, Basili; the two met while working at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo and love traveling together to visit new zoos and explore the incredible variety of animals around the country.
scheduling manager
Wrandi
Hi! I’m Wrandi! I graduated from Vatterott College in 2012 with my Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) certification. I started out working in small animal clinics, where I spent four years gaining hands-on experience and building a strong foundation in veterinary care.
After that, I had the amazing opportunity to work at the Henry Doorly Zoo for eight years. It was an incredible experience that allowed me to work with a wide variety of species and really expand my skills beyond the typical household pets.
In 2024, I decided it was time for a change and was lucky enough to join the team here at Southpaw Veterinary Clinic. I’m excited to be back in a clinic setting where I can build lasting relationships with pets and their families.
Outside of work, I’m married to my wonderful husband, David. We have a daughter named Marley and another little one on the way! Our home is full of animals (just the way I like it) – and we have three dogs (Karl, Dexter and Suzi), one cat named Noodles, a leopard gecko named Lunchbox and a flock of twelve chickens.
I’m passionate about what I do and I’m looking forward to meeting you and your pets!
